This 14 by 6 inch snare drum is an instrument I truly love to look at and hear. The drum shell is comprised of Walnut, White Oak and African Blackwood, and the hoops are solid finger-jointed Blackwood with Oak pinstripes inlaid in precisely cut grooves. The finish is our UV cure high gloss lacquer with a pebbled lacquer applied inside for a warmer tone. The drum features a hand carved Blackwood strainer handle, knob and strap plate, and 24K gold-plated hardware.

 

Over the course of this project, I developed a wonderful friendship with our client, and he almost knocked me over when I received an unexpected (and rather large) deposit check for a complete drumkit based on this snare drum just before Christmas. The kit order has now increased in size to nine drums including a gong tom and three floor toms. We continue to enjoy a great relationship as I provide semi-weekly status updates on the many details involved in a project of this scale.
